This Life – on iPlayer for a limited time only (until early March 2020)

This Life, the cult drama series about a group of aspiring young lawyers in a house share in London is on iPlayer for a limited time only.

Only the first series is currently available and was originally shown in 1996. This was the year I went to university, so a drama where the characters, close to my age, drank, smoked and had casual sex and generally fucked up was thrilling.

Revolutionary scripts and camera work with a soundtrack packed with Britpop and trip-hop (Ricky Gervais was the music supervisor) made this an era defining show during the height of “Cool Britannia”.

This Life slowly built a devoted audience and was much more popular by the end of the second series. There is no information about whether the second series will get an outing.

Included on BFI’s list of the 100 greatest British television programmes of all time (there are some all-time greats in here), catch this while you can. I’m a couple of episodes in and loving it, but feeling old!

Episode 1 will disappears off iPlayer in early March 2020, and then one episode goes every day until they are gone.
