Track 10 – Mas Que Nada – Sergio Mendes (Echobeatz) (1998)
Today’s track is inspired by the fine summer weather the UK is currently experiencing and the excellent World Cup that’s presently occurring. A track that has me dreaming of doing stepovers and nutmegging the keeper on Copacabana beach in a pick up football game. Continue reading “The Awesome Running Playlist – Track 10 (Special World Cup Edition)”
A couple of weeks ago, I was reminded by a friend that we’d entered a race and it was in two weeks time.
Whilst I wasn’t in bad shape, I’m wasn’t in race shape. (I’m wondering, what is my race shape?)
With only two weeks to go, I did a handwritten plan on how to get there in the best shape possible. Continue reading “Feeling Better – Its not always about the running!”
Track 9 – Can’t Hold Us – Macklemore & Ryan Lewis feat. Ray Dalton (2012)
Here’s a party anthem! If you ever need a party to go off, drop this track. It also gets you flying on your run.
From American hip hop duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis debut studio album The Heist that also contains the classic Thrift Shop, it’s the anthem, Can’t Hold Us. Continue reading “The Awesome Running Playlist – Track 9”
I posted a few weeks ago that a group of friends and I are doing a 100-mile bike called Velo South in September and that the training plans have been hotting up.
Last week we headed out for a 60-mile ride. Here are some of the things I learnt. Continue reading “Lessons for a 60-mile bike ride”
Track 8 – Nalin & Kane – Beachball (1997)
Another tune that was on the long list and got bumped up today as a friend of mine sent me a What’s App with a link to the tune with the message “This one goes out to the Boy Lard”
My fondness for this tune goes beyond it being a stunning example of 90s Balearic house music. Continue reading “The Awesome Running Playlist – Track 8”
“Too scared to risk failing at something I loved, so I succeeded at something I had no passion for”
The quote above came from a piece in the Guardian on Regrets where Emma Freud posed the question on Twitter “What’s your greatest regret”.
The piece is a very telling read and this quote really stood out. Read it again and take a moment to think about it.
Does it bring something to mind in your own life? Continue reading “What’s stopping you? Step towards your fears”
Track 7 – Lose Yourself – Eminem (2002)
“Look, if you had one shot, or one opportunity
To seize everything you ever wanted, in one moment
Would you capture it, or just let it slip?”
Not a bad opening, eh? How did this one fall to number 7? It’s really is a final mile tune when you need some real inspiration, so if this playlist ever gets a final definitive list, this will be towards the end. Continue reading “The Awesome Running Playlist – Track 7”
A few weekends ago, an intrepid team of myself, 10 other runners and a team driver took part in The Green Belt Relay
Whats the Green Belt Relay?
I asked myself the same thing too. You will probably not heard of it unless you are a member of a London running club. Continue reading “The Green Belt Relay – May 2018”
Track 6 – Catch – Kosheen (2001)
So you’ve had a little break with the smooth cruisey vibes of Pete Heller. Now its time to get back to picking off those runners in front of you. There’s no better tune than Kosheen’s Catch to do that too. Continue reading “The Awesome Running Playlist – Track 6”
As Ride London has become equivalently difficulty to get into as the London Marathon, I have had to look for other riding events.
At the start of March, a friend and I were well organised and entered Velo South, a 100-mile closed road ride with 15,000 riders West Sussex countryside including the South Downs National Park. We thought it would just be the two of us. Continue reading “Velo South – When you’ve created a beast!”
